MARTYN ROBERTSON, PRODUCER / DIRECTOR

Martyn trained in theatre at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and founded Urbancroft Films in 2007. Since then he has produced and directed a vast range of commercial and creative films across the twelve-year span of the company. This includes regular content for BBC Scotland Learning, The Travel Channel, and a recent documentary for Panasonic Japan showcasing the capabilities of their forthcoming 8K cameras.

Successes include his first Feature Documentary, Marty Goes to Hollywood which won a New Talent BAFTA for Best Factual in 2015. The film enjoyed a festival run, a broadcast premiere on BBC Scotland. and was acquired by Amazon Prime and American Airlines VOD.

Other producing credits include A Cuillin Rising, premiering at BFI Film Festival in 2011 and screening in Nashville, London Short Film Festival and Glasgow Short Film Festival, Howls, with Third Films - premiering at Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2017 and screened at Encounters, Aesthetica and London Short Film Festival that year. Martyn has been a mentor on the Scottish Film Industry training scheme Jump Cut and was a juror on the RTS Cinematography Awards last year.

THE TEAM

Martyn has assembled an exciting team for the film including Executive Producers, Al Morrow (MetFilm) and John Archer (Hopscotch Films) along with experienced documentary editor David Arthur (Where You’re Meant to Be 2016) and composer Scott Twynholm. Screen Scotland are also now on board as development funders of the project.
